New UTD AI Center Aims to Boost DFW’s Tech Economy

The University of Texas at Dallas has officially launched the Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, a strategic initiative aimed at transforming the Dallas Fort Worth region into a leading hub for AI innovation and tech driven economic growth. This new center focuses on bridging the gap between academic research and real-world applications, helping industries adopt AI solutions that drive efficiency, scalability, and impact.




The AI center, led by Dr. Doug DeGroot, is designed to bridge cutting edge research with real world applications. Backed by a major institutional investment, it will serve as a collaboration point for academic researchers, Fortune 500 companies, and DFW’s growing startup ecosystem.

said Dr. Doug DeGroot, Director of the Center and faculty member at the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science.
