First Frisco location anchors $3B development and redefines community living

Frisco is no stranger to growth, but the latest news at The Mix in Frisco takes the city’s momentum to another level. Construction is officially underway on Whole Foods Market, which will serve as the anchor tenant of The Mix’s retail center. Located at Dallas Parkway and Lebanon Road, the new store marks the retailer’s first-ever location in Frisco, a milestone residents have eagerly awaited for years.

This development matters because it delivers more than groceries. Whole Foods Market will bring a premium shopping experience, attract national attention, and set the tone for The Mix, a $3 billion mixed-use project designed to blend retail, office, residential, and recreation into one destination.

A Long-Awaited Arrival

For over a decade, Frisco residents have asked when Whole Foods Market would arrive in the city. Thanks to The Mix, that wish is finally coming true.

Tim Campbell, head of development for The Mix, noted in the July 24 announcement: “We are excited to welcome Frisco’s first Whole Foods Market to The Mix. Whole Foods Market has remained committed to this site and Frisco for more than 10 years and will be a great asset to The Mix and our community.”

City leaders agree. Councilmember John Keating said the store will deliver on years of community demand: “Frisco residents will finally get the Whole Foods Market they have long wanted. The community has been asking for this unique shopping experience for years, and we are excited to see it come to fruition.”

The new store will give residents easy access to fresh, organic, and specialty products while adding another layer of prestige to Frisco’s retail scene.

The Mix: Phase One in Motion Whole Foods Frisco

Whole Foods Market is part of Phase One of The Mix, which broke ground in January 2025. According to Community Impact, this first stage covers 28 acres and will bring together:

  • About 100,000 square feet of retail space

  • 115,000 square feet of Class A office space

  • 635 urban residential units

  • A slice of an 8-acre central park

As ConnectCRE reported, The Mix is strategically located in Frisco’s North Platinum Corridor, with access from the Dallas North Tollway, Lebanon Road, Parkwood Boulevard, and John Hickman Parkway. Once the full development is complete, The Mix will span 112 acres and feature:

  • More than 2 million square feet of Class A office space

  • 375,000 square feet of upscale retail

  • Over 3 million square feet of residential space

  • Two hotels

  • Expansive parkland and community gathering areas

By combining retail, residential, office, and leisure space, The Mix will establish itself as more than a commercial center. It is designed to become Frisco’s next great destination for living, working, and connecting.

Economic Energy and Community Benefits

The impact of Whole Foods Market extends well beyond its aisles. The store’s arrival will create jobs, boost property values, and drive steady foot traffic to The Mix. For small businesses and local entrepreneurs, this means new opportunities to reach customers who come for groceries but stay for dining, shopping, or leisure.

In addition, Whole Foods has a track record of working with local vendors, opening the door for North Texas producers to feature their goods in-store. For Frisco’s business community, that kind of visibility is invaluable.

The city itself will also benefit. The development was made possible through a $113.43 million incentive agreement approved in fall 2024, underscoring the city’s commitment to fostering growth. This project builds confidence for investors and cements Frisco’s reputation as a top-tier destination for both residents and businesses.

From Wade Park to The Mix

The site at Dallas Parkway and Lebanon Road has a history. Years ago, the land was slated to become Wade Park, a mixed-use development that broke ground in 2014 but collapsed in 2017 due to financial issues. For years, the area sat in limbo, frustrating residents and slowing momentum.

The launch of The Mix represents a turnaround story. Backed by strong investment, clear planning, and community support, the project is moving forward with visible progress. Where uncertainty once stood, cranes and construction crews now signal a brighter future.

Looking Forward

The construction of Whole Foods Market at The Mix is more than a ribbon-cutting in the making. It is a symbol of Frisco’s resilience, ambition, and growth. By 2026 and beyond, residents will enjoy a long-awaited shopping destination, while local businesses gain access to a steady stream of customers.

For now, all signs point to transformation. The Mix is proving that Frisco is not just adding buildings but shaping experiences that blend commerce, community, and convenience. And with Whole Foods Market as the anchor, this corner of the city will become one of the most talked-about destinations in North Texas.

Frisco has been patient, but the wait is nearly over. When Whole Foods Market opens its doors at The Mix, the city will celebrate more than a grocery store. It will celebrate another step toward becoming the model for modern community living.
