Recently, Pakistan, China, and El Salvador have made headlines with their substantial gold discoveries, which have potential implications for their economies and environmental policies.

In Pakistan, a significant gold reserve has been discovered along a 32-kilometer stretch of the Indus River near Attock, Punjab. The reserve is estimated to contain 32.66 metric tons of gold, valued at approximately $2.87 billion. This discovery could provide a substantial economic boost for Pakistan.

El Salvador, on the other hand, has identified what could be one of the largest gold deposits per square kilometer in the world, with potential reserves estimated at $3 trillion. Despite the enormous potential economic benefits, President Nayib Bukele faces a dilemma due to a previous nationwide ban on metal mining, instituted over environmental concerns.

The government is contemplating whether to lift this ban to access the gold, which could dramatically transform the country's economy. However, this move is controversial due to potential environmental impacts, particularly on water sources.

These discoveries underscore the significant economic opportunities that large mineral reserves can offer nations but also highlight the environmental and social challenges that come with large-scale mining operations.

Recently, China has made significant discoveries in its gold reserves, with one particularly notable find being called a "supergiant" deposit. This new discovery in the Hunan Province contains an estimated 1,000 metric tons of high-quality gold ore, potentially making it one of the largest and most lucrative gold reserves ever found. This gold deposit has an extraordinary grade, with some core samples showing as much as 138 grams of gold per ton, which is considered exceptionally high.

.

Additionally, China has reported significant finds in other regions as well, including Gansu, Inner Mongolia, and Heilongjiang, adding a total of 168 tons of identified gold resources. This includes a super-large deposit in Gansu Province consisting of 102.4 tons. These discoveries are part of a broader strategy by China to enhance its mineral resource reserves, which has also led to a notable increase in its gold reserves over the past year.
